I managed to get to the river by 3 yesterday,I changed my mind on location when I felt the cold wind glad I did because I managed 3 barbel and 2 chub.I lost 2 barbel aswell,I'm sure I would of had more if i'd stay on. All my Barbel came after 5 o'clock.

Day ticket stretch for Chub

You'd be best going to Woody's tackle in Hereford and asking Paul(Woody) to put you on the fish, He'l even draw you a map :)

Nice one Mark.

That seems to be the fashion with Wye Barbel over the last couple of winter seasons, Barbel starting to feed as the light values drop generally.

Elnino,

Anywhere along the town stretch from Belmont through to Bartonsham Meadows will see you onto Chub and plenty of them. Recent match reports have bags of chub to 70lbs. The slighty warmer water through the town is definetly the place to go for them.

I managed 1 chub and 4 barbel this evening, they didnt seem to be feeding as well tonight as I was having alot less indications on the rod tip. All the barbel were as fat as pigs which backs up my suspicions that last night could of been a very good session if I had stayed later.

Ended my season on the Wye today. The river is still fairly cold and the north easterly blowing in my ear was a pain. :(

On a happier note, a few hours on the feeder rewarded me with a nice Chub of 5.02, so a pleasing end to a slow season. :)

Splendid day to finish the season, in fact best day I've had all season. 7 barbel between 6 and 7.5 lbs on maggots, pellets and boilies and lost two more. Would have landed more I'm sure, but the section I was fishing doesn't allow night fishing so I had to pack up, very relucantly, at about 7.30 when I was getting a bite a chuck! Certainly puts fishing the Bristol Avon, my normal haunt, to shame.
