today river is still about 12-18 inches up, colour dropping right out and can now see the bottom in the margins, something havent been able to do for ages, watch out banks are treacherous.

some stupid buggers have put up concrete blocks by the bridge at melksham now, so i cant see the state of the river everyday now, boo! i saw the river the other day tho and it had a bit of a brown tinge which i thought was an algae bloom, fingers crosssed it would have gone by sunday.
good luck to all.

The concrete blocks are probably due to the young lad that died there a couple of years back a friend of my son. But it is a real shame you cannot see the river any more. I can gauge the river levels quite well going back and forth to work over the bridge a real shame.

yes it was probably about 3 or 4 yrs ago the lad passed away, it has taken along time for them to put up barriers then. i will have to drive along forest rd and get a better view! or go through staverton daily.

Looking at EA website levels are back to pre-rain levels, but I would imagine the river looks a lot fresher ;)

Cheers James.

I was just wondering whether to go a little 'heavier' than normal.

Thanks,
Chris
