hi, I crashed and Burned!
two chub, peg by a public footpath that everyone stopped to have a chat, uncomfortable peg for sitting on ( i dont take a chair with me) and i couldnt have a wee as too many people, still if we dont try these things we wont learn, but may try again !!! later on with a bit more water, so i guess a barrichello, nearly crashed and totally burned if i hadnt had the two chub and ran out of wall.....??

Snap, 1 chub & a roach was all I could manage  . It did look like a good spot though Paul, maybe worth another go later in the season. Well done to everyone who is catching as it seems to be getting a little harder at the min :?: . I might be buying some maggots soon  .
Cheers

Hi James (Barbel123)

Was out myself saturday and tried about 12 swim's and only managed 4 Chub myself all around the 3 to 4lb mark.
Not many out and about just Rob (avonbarbel) who had a small Barbel around 5lbs and a few chub well done mate. ;)
Did not fish Sunday spent the day with the wife who is not too well at this present time. :( She is awaiting another Heart Op in a few weeks time.
A bit of a worry for the both of us.

Sorry to hear that nigel, hope that she has her op and gets better soon.
Out the weekend for my latest session and what a frustrating one it was , started in a new swim that looked really good but bar one small pluck nothing after an hour or so so moved back downstream and looked into a swim that i had seen a few boris in last week , and there was 3 or 4 home ! put a bit of bait in and patiently waited a while, but as soon as i cast a line in they disappeared :!: so just sat and flicked a few baits in every few mins and actually had them taking on the drop, cast in carefully again but same result :? :? put a pint of hemp in and waited a good while and a couple of the smaller ones returned and had a right mooch about but they just didn't want to know my baited hook :( :( :!: then without warning a huge 3ft twitch which didn't need striking ,the fish straight into the weedy/snaggy far bank i piled on the sidestrain and after a few seconds a 4 lb chub was winched out !! and that was the end of the spooky boris but i will return !! moved to another swim and had another couple of chub, hopefully out again in the week for another go :D

Hi all,
Went out yesterday and bumped into Martin who got me fish spotting we went to a swim that he had looked in earlier in the day to find eight barbel stood on there heads feeding hard on the mud and silt, ywo of witch looked to be double's.
After watching the fish for a bit we saw a pattern of where the bigger fish where feeding and once all the fish had hid from view a bait was put in.After a chub, losing a very good roach and nearly going for a swim twice I manged it catch a new BA pb of 9lb 13oz stalked from a clear swim and seperated fImagerom the smaller fish just through watching, waiting and learning all the bigger fishies habits and movements.
Cheers Martin for all your help yesterday mate, the Berkshire rivers are calling ;)

Hi Rich,

Great result yesterday, shame she was so lean and fell just short of double figures. I thought you were going in when you slipped on the bank for the second time, if it was not for the rod rest that ended up ever so slightly bent when it stopped your descent I'm sure you would have ;) :)

That roach was well over 2lb. Would have been nice to have got it out but, 12lb. line and Barbel Rod was maybe just a bit over the top, hence the hook pulling out as it kicked just short the net.

Regards Martin
