Well done Jedd, two out of three ain't bad. I was out today for a couple of hours for one chub.
Unfortunatly I found alot of carp scales in one swim which must of been the remains of someones lunch!
Then Paul text me to say he found the remains of a Barbel about 5lbs, expect he may post details in another part of the site.

Cheers

Fancied a change today so had a couple of hours on the Chew. What a lovely afternoon I had. 3 roach, 2 grayling & lost count how many minnows I had. It always makes me smile how a minnow can fit 2 maggots on a size 18 in it's mouth & give a good bite on the tip too  .
Here is one of the grayling.

that made a nice change then James, would like to catch some grayling myself havent had one for years. anyway i know this is a catch report page but couldnt think of putting this anywhere else. have read my local weekly paper today (wilts Times) and they are trying to start building more sections of the old defunct wilts and berks canal, nice, well not really as they want to join up the river to the canal at melksham and have boats go up and down to Lacock and rebuild the wilts and berks section there. which is worrying as this would mean boats going straight through the avon at beanacare and queensfield, which for a start isnt navigatable as you can walk across the river in places. so it beggars belief that there would have to be alot of dredging and river deepening on this stretch, which would be disaster! and change the river beyond recognition. i know these are only early plans, but the ideas are being thought about quite favourabley! i think i will be investing in Wye tabs in a few years time.
worried regards paul

Just a small one which I didn't weigh it and sorry for the poor picture.

LOL
Didn't noticed that, thought I did feel like christmas had come early.
I'm going to a different venue tomorrow morning but hopefully back where I was today.

Hi all,

First serious attempt at Barbel this year as I thought the swift rise in temperature might provoke a fish or two.

Tried a new, to me anyway, approach and fished with a single pellet and no freebies of any kind.

First swim I failed to get a bite after an hour and moved to the second. Around fifteen minutes later I missed a small pluck. Shortly after that I hit a more positive bite.

Image

A fish that looks like it's been on the prod at 8lb. 02oz.

No more bites after another hour so I went back to the first swim and had another of around 5lb. or so.

I swear I saw Rich Parsons in a Delorian on the way back home   .

Will be trying that again ;)

Regards Martin

LOL,
It's wasn't me, my old 306 can hardly make it up the big at Lacock let alone into the future and back.
Nice fish Martin, the single hook bait with no freebies approach is much under used.
