Hi all,
Been tonight and had a single chub of 3lb.It was a very lean fish and didn't really put up a fight but it was better than a blank. Cheers Kev for helping to sort the mess I got into with my front drag reel, I HATE those things with a passion
Back out again tomorrow.

Hi All
What with the season drawing to a close, I felt sorry for Martin not having a car, so went and picked him up for a days fishing in the Bath/Malmesbury area. The wind was bitterly cold so I decided to "use my loaf" and stick to breadflake for some chub.... Martin, however, plumped for his usual single pellet approach with no feed, hoping to snare a barbel or two....tactics which, given the bitter conditions, we both thought was a bit futile
After several hours, freezing our proverbials off, Martins clicker had not once announced its displeasure....whilst I, on the other hand, already had a couple of chub to my account...Suddenly and without warning, Martins rod bucked and his rusty (sorry trusty) pin burst into life....Result, a pristine and scrappy 7lb barbel :D .... The day ended with a score of 5 - 1 to me, but I would gladly have swapped all my chub for that one barbel. All in all, an enjoyable and cheap days fishing....One 17p loaf and three pellets. :D :D
I will end this post with a bait tip......"Mister Kiplings Battenburg Cakes"....Had a real rod wrencher on the last piece of marzipan off the last cake....but missed it

Cheers and tight lines to all for the last few days

Pete

Pete

Hi all,

Well thanks to Pete I got a day out. I have no idea where we went as his Sat Nav was playing up and I am not sure if we were even on the BA

You should have heard him...... "One Nil" he yelled out as the first Chub came to the net...."Two Nil" soon followed. He went ever so quiet when he heard my pin click though :)

The single pellet scored again and as he says, one pristine fin perfect Barbel came to the net.

Anyway we had a good day and I had to concede that Pete caught the most fish and also took top weight, he constantly mentioned this on the way back :!: ......shame he missed the rod wrencher on the "Mister Kipling" bait, I reckon it was definitely a Barbel ;)

Regards Martin

Hi all

I had booked my last of my days off and had to make the most of thursday as it would be my last until the new season.

After a few missed bites I saved a blank with a small chub, a few more taps and the light was fading and i was beginning to feel the barbel would have to wait. All packed away and on the way back to the car I decided to spend 10mins in swim i had baited ealier that morning, and was rewarded with 9.4lbs barbel almost immeadiatley. just trying to resize the pictures, does anyone know if it possible in photobucket?

good luck to all those out at the weekend

Well I was out for my last go of the season today. Opted to fish bread on the tip. Only had one bite, which resulted in a brief fight before my hooklength snapped  . Felt like a good fish, but we will never know.
I saw someone pike fishing, but he hadn't caught anything so I told him to try cheesepaste as Avon pike just love the stuff  .
Good luck to anyone out tomorrow.

Cheers

Managed to squeeze in a couple of short sessions before the end of the season... only had one bite. For a new PB - 12lb exactly. Stunning fish. Very pleased! Great way to end the season.

Good luck to all those out tomorrow.
