Hi All
What with the season drawing to a close, I felt sorry for Martin not having a car, so went and picked him up for a days fishing in the Bath/Malmesbury area. The wind was bitterly cold so I decided to "use my loaf" and stick to breadflake for some chub.... Martin, however, plumped for his usual single pellet approach with no feed, hoping to snare a barbel or two....tactics which, given the bitter conditions, we both thought was a bit futile
After several hours, freezing our proverbials off, Martins clicker had not once announced its displeasure....whilst I, on the other hand, already had a couple of chub to my account...Suddenly and without warning, Martins rod bucked and his rusty (sorry trusty) pin burst into life....Result, a pristine and scrappy 7lb barbel

.... The day ended with a score of 5 - 1 to me, but I would gladly have swapped all my chub for that one barbel. All in all, an enjoyable and cheap days fishing....One 17p loaf and three pellets.
I will end this post with a bait tip......"Mister Kiplings Battenburg Cakes"....Had a real rod wrencher on the last piece of marzipan off the last cake....but missed it
Cheers and tight lines to all for the last few days
Pete
