BA River Condition's (Season 2011/12)

BA River Condition's (Season 2011/12)

Postby Jedd Hughes » 10 May 2011 19:40

Hi all

I popped down to Avoncliffe today for a bit of a wander and noticed that the large tree opposite the cross guns has fallen into the water, I crept up to the tree and it was packed beneath with barbel

I know this is where they congregate during spawning but there were really good numbers present.

I then drove further down stream to Limpley bridge and was quite shocked how few barbel were present, there were three or four one just about a double but plenty of chub.

I have not managed to walk Lacock or Queensfield yet but has anybody else had a mooch or spotted many fish?

Regards

Jedd

Thats some great news guys :D .
Glad there are still some left to have a go at in the BA when the season starts. I will be going for a wander in a couple of weeks to see all the changes that spring has brought & maybe see a few too.
Cheers

popped down to limpley today for a quick gander and as to be expected nowhere to park! i'd heard there was a possibility the farmer was going to make an area for anglers to park near there.. anyone know if this is still going ahead?

Well its been raining for 12 hours solid today :!:
Not seen the BA, but my local brook is a few inches up & brown. I hope they don't get there heads down too soon & end up being full for thursday.

limpley stoke

Postby NMD » 13 Jun 2011 08:51

limpley stoke parking should find out today if the combination lock has been put on the gate , the parking will be at the bomb hole field just in side the gate.

UPDATE
there is now a combination lock on the gate, the lock number is on the front of your licence. You go in the gate and park on the left handside against the wall , DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR UP THE FIELD TO DROP OFF YOUR GEAR OR PARK, don,t forget this only for the benifit of the anglers so please close the gate and lock afterwards.
SAFTEY POINT, park car on lefthand side facing up hill , cross road and open gate , drive car up the hill and turn around and drive straight in the gate , this is only a tip as the buses and cars come down the hill fast.

we want to keep this going as most anglers have complain about parking so if you see anybody doing something they shouldn,t be doing let us know

THANK YOU
