River Carp

"The Carp is the queen of rivers; a stately, a good, and a very subtil fish; that was not at first bred, nor hath been long in England, but is now naturalised."

I bet it still put a good bend in your rod Avonbarbel. My first fish of this season on opening day was an 8lb carp & boy did it go! That is the only river carp I have ever caught, do any of you guys catch them that often?
Cheers

One hell of a bend on a lightweight greys... good fun though! :D

Its the third carp this season on the avon for me... although I did target this one (actually wanted one of the other bigger 2 but... ;) )

Interesting.
I have seen them in the BA before, but never bothered targeted them.
Still quite new to Barbel fishing so maybe I will catch a few more over time which wouldn't be a bad thing :)

Cheers

BIggest witnessed was 18lb but seen bigger than that in the BA (ok maybe a while ago) but also know someone who was spending £500+ on a syndicate water only to be just as happy to fish a stretch of the BA for a "river monster"...
